I want to get into a public relations career, but I’m not sure if the job in general is profitable enough to support me and my (soon-to-be) family. I have a degree in communications and public relations from American University, but I have no experience in the field. What type of salary can I expect to get at first and over time as a PR specialist? Can I be financially comfortable in this career? Thanks!

I was just wondering if anyone knows many PR officers that use their skills to promote themselves in the music business… provided they haven’t had tertiary musical qualifications.

I am a web content writer working for the website of the national news channel of India, I am keen to spruce up my career in public relations, however, I don’t have any experience in media relations and in writing I hold an experience of more than a year…I’ve heard that PR has more creativity and rewards than in content writing because it gets monotonous after a period…please suggest me the pros and cons of both careers…I am an eng hons grad and hold a diploma in TV journalism too!!

I am applying for a graduate position and would like to know if this Cover Letter is any good. Thanks:

Re: Junior Marketing Graduate

I would like to apply for the full time Junior Marketing Graduate position, as advertised through Seek.

I recently completed my Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) degree from X University with a distinction GPA. Throughout the course of my studies the School of Marketing at X University recognised my high level of academic achievements. I strongly believe my scholastic performance is due to my passion toward marketing and as a result I hope to establish a solid career within this field.

Over the course of my degree I was able to expand and develop my academic and practical marketing skills through interactive group projects, presentations and work experience opportunities. Most recently I was involved with the proposal of a marketing and public relations campaign for the Asthma Foundation.

One of the most crucial requirements for a marketer’s success is outstanding communication skills. Consequently, I have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Furthermore, I take a lot of pride in my work through being highly attentive, extremely well organised with exceptional decision making and problem solving abilities. I am also able to display the same level of competence whether I am working within a team environment or independently.

Due to my forward thinking nature, I have the ability to use initiative and act proactively, while efficiently managing my time. In addition, I am well experienced in administrative duties due to my previous position as an administrative assistant and customer service agent. I am also extremely proficient with computers as I have an advanced understanding and knowledge of many computer applications.

I am very enthusiastic and excited toward this challenging and motivating opportunity to gain solid industry experience in exchange for my high calibre academic skills. I believe my determination and drive for success, combined with my unlimited potential and willingness to learn and develop my skills and knowledge makes me an ideal candidate for the Junior Marketing Graduate position.

Please find attached a copy of my resume, academic transcript, a letter of recommendation and letters of recognition. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to meet with you. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

My name

I want to be an entertainment publicist, but I don’t want to devote 4 years of my college career to get a degree in a difficult job market. Basically I don’t wanna be that person with the degree but can’t find a job in that field. Will i have difficulty getting a job in this field after i graduate? Help lol=/

After I complete my master’s degree?

I have an Associate of Applied Arts degree in Journalism, a Bachelor’s in Sociology with minors in Psychology and Visual Communication. I am getting my Master’s in Communication with an emphasis in Visual Communication.

I was editor of my junior college newspaper and yearbook, I’ve worked in graphic, web and multimedia design and I’m currently doing design and writing for the Public Relations department at my university.

I’ll be getting two degrees (three majors) in December, in journalism, political science and cultural anthropology. I want to work as a reporter for a newspaper or in politics as a media relations person.

I will have three internships under my belt, one with a newspaper and two doing political campaign media relations work.

I would really like to have something lined up by August, when I start my final semester, so I can know where I’m moving to (I have whole house and three kids to move and we’re not staying in-state) before I actually graduate. Is this a realistic expectation? Would a newspaper or PR firm agree to hire someone who couldn’t start for 5 months?

Hi,
I am trying to figure out what career I want to pursue. Public relations sound like a great job for me. If you or someone you know is in this field, could you give me some advice? Pros and Cons? What do I need to succeed in PR?

Thanks so much!
