I am looking to join the Australian army as a public relations officer. I am just about to complete my degree majoring in advertising, but have decided that there would be nothing worse than sitting behind a desk every day. Therefore i decided to join advertising/ media relations with physical demands.

I was just wondering whether anyone knows what a Public relations officer actually does on a daily basis? Further, whether it will involve outdoor activities, or sitting behind a desk in Canberra or something?

I’m a college graduate and im thinking of joining either branch as a Public Affairs Officer. I want to go into Public Relations and figure it would be a great work experience to work in a marketing/advertising/PR agency later. I also would like to persue an MBA as well while im in. What do you guys think?
p.s. i also wear glasses is it true that the navy gives free laser surgery? haha

I am a public relations major and I want to be commissioned as a public affairs officer in the air force, is there anything I can do to increase my chances? I am currently in ROTC.

My boyfriend told me that he’s interested in joining the Naval Reserves, last night. I’ve been a complete wreck since. I need information about the reserves, how they work, how they are different from the active forces, the chances of being deployed, will he be able to do the job he wants to, how can one be deployed if they only do 1 weekend a month? He’s 25 with a college degree in marketing but has been out of work the past 2 months. He wants to do Media Relations work at the base in the city where we live. Apparently he thinks he’s just going to walk in to this position at this particular base with no risk of being deployed. After talking with several people at work today, they’ve stated that this is def not the case. They said that recruiters will say anything you want to hear to get you in the door but it’s never true afterwards. I was also told that reserves are the first to go overseas to Iraq and the like. Can somebody please provide me with accurate info? I’m a crying mess!

I’m talking something like public relations. Are those jobs hard to get in the Air Force. Also, what jobs are relatively easy to land other than security forces?

I am really an open book when it comes to jobs. I am not too mechanical, so maitenance is probably out. I would like something medical, but I heard those take forever to come by, and I would also love something like Public Relations…etc. What types of jobs could I get that won’t mean a year long wait!
Public Relations in the Military?

How would you personally describe Public Relations? Is it fun, boring, interesting, easy… give me details please. And if you were choosing would you choose public relations or broadcasting. I have my choice between either two and haven’t completly decided. I just want to see what other people think about the job if its from personal expereince or through a friend.

I will be graduating in June with a bachelors degree, it is a general degree with strong focus and minors in public relations and communications. The job market is awful right now and I have been considering the military (I really like the navy). I know that mc jobs in the navy are hard to get right now, but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to increase my chances of getting it if there is a spot open. I took a practice ASVAB while I was at the recruiting station and I scored a 75 I made almost perfect scores on the WK and PC portions. I have also done many practice tests online and I have been scoring in the 80’s. I feel like my scores will be ok, but I am worried about the competition. Will they take into consideration my degree? Can I bring them a resume to highlight my mc abilities? Is there anything else I can do?

Now that I have a Bachelors I’m thinking about going back into the Army as an Officer, and going into Public Relations. I don’t want to be stationed in some small hick town again.

So where are Public Relations Officers stationed. And what are some Officer Jobs in which I can be stationed in a big city. I’ll work at a MEPS if I have to, I just **** small towns.
