A friend has recommended me for a position that’s grade level 26 and another that is grade level 28. She knows what the pay range for those positions is in her field, but not for marketing communications jobs. The application asks the dreaded question “What salary do you require in this position?” and I don’t want to put myself too high or too low.
I’m going to college next year and want to major in some sort of business where I can make a decent salary. Perhaps in the communication or marketing field but I’m not sure yet. Anyone in these fields or different field of buisness? Do you enjoy your job? What exactly are your tasks? Do you make a decent salary? Thanks!
This fall when I become a freshman I am planning ot major in Communications, because I know it’s something I would enjoy doing..I’ve done some reasearch and it leaves me skeptical..How good is the salary? Are there many jobs available? Can I make good living for myself?
I was thinking about having a double major in communications+marketing..I want to do something with PR..
I want to minor in economics, but I am just looking for some good advice including what kind of consulting firms I could benefit from. Maybe some advice on what I could be doing to get into a top B-school. I have 12 years of work experience 4 of those are in management with 1 of those as a general manager. All of those years of experience are in the restaurant industry. I have great grades and I’m going to a college with a good undergraduate business program (Miami University Oxford), I’m just looking for some creative suggestions. Thanks!
I currently work in marketing/PR and am planning on quitting my full-time job in a few months to go back to school and earn a second bachelor’s in civil engineering (and thus change careers). While I’m in school, I’ll need to earn some money, and I figure a good option for me would be doing freelance marketing/PR projects – flexible hours and hopefully better pay per hour than waiting tables. For those of you that currently do freelance marketing/PR, do you have any tips for finding work? I’ve browsed craigslist, but that isn’t always reliable (I don’t want those work-for-free-but-build-your-portfolio jobs). I’m in the Chicago area if it makes a difference.
Also, if I create an online portfolio of my work, does anyone know if I can I feature work I’ve done for my current employer (now or after I leave)? I don’t want to get in any copyright trouble. I’m not sure how to approach my boss with that question just yet.
