It’s one thing to say things need to change, it’s another to take steps towards doing it. What have you done to promote awareness?
I was the public relations officer for our campus *** and ******* student organization. I am a member of my city’s transgender support group. I’ve helped organize the candlelight vigil for the transgender Day of Remembrance, our campus *** and ******* organization participated in the red ribbon campaign, and tomorrow we are participating in the the Day of Silence. I’ve given speeches on my campus to the sociology department, human sexuality classes, and speech classes regarding transsexuality. I’m also a member of the Stonewall Democrats that lobbied here in Texas for people to vote “NO” on the proposal to ban *** marriage in Texas. (Unfortunately, they passed the bill anyway). So, what have you done to support the GLBT cause?

Gay marriage foes in Maine have hired the public relations firm that led the successful Proposition 8 proposal to overturn same-sex marriage in California, while supporters have turned to a legislative aide who led a successful campaign to retain Maine’s *** rights law.

I am looking for something like the African American Association of Communicators or something similar. Maybe I would want to get involved with women in communications organizations.
