How to calculate free cash flow?
Posted by admin in Investing on 11 4th, 2009| icon31 Comment »

Hello! I am currently trying to learn the basics in the field of investing, so i ask that anyone answering this question to please explain any concept mentionned as if you were talking to a two year old.

My problem is that I am trying to find the free cash flow for the company CIBC. I ask the you please explain to me how you found it, if you choose to simply provide the answer.

I think the main reason that I can not find the free cash flow using the methods provided by my books is that they are American (this is not for sure though). I know that the SEC provides specific details on the reports that are made by companies, but i do not think that those specifications apply to canadian companies, and as such, they are much different. Please tell me how to find the free cash flow from CIBC. If you would like, their quarterly report may be found on the following page:

*Just click the link saying “quarterly report to shareholders”

http://www.cibc.ca/ca/investor-relations/quarterly-results/quarterly-financial.html

If you would like, any extra little bits of information regarding investing that could be given to an aspiring investor like myself would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Stock Market Questions need help?
Posted by admin in Investing on 09 24th, 2009| icon31 Comment »

i have few questions. can someone give me some idea about this:

1. In view of the fact that the market is efficient in the semi strong form, there is no value to investors in companies publishing accounting reports, because the information is already impounded in share price before that information is published.

2.What are stock market anomalies? Why they are important in relation to stock market efficiency theory?

3.‘The shares of ABC are under priced at the moment’. Comment on the validity of this statement.

Hi,

I currently work as a corporate financial analyst (budgets, forecasts, etc…), but this is not the career path I would like to take.

The investment side of finance always interested me more, and currently I’m thinking of taking my level 1 CFA.

Since I never worked an investment job before; can somebody explain to me what a day in the life of a buy-side (equity) analyst consits of? I guess from the moment I get there until it’s time to go home? Responsibilities?

Or any other investment type job if you are not a buy-side analyst? (hedge fund, forex, fixed income analyts, investor relations, etc…)

I always liked analyzing the market so I think being a buy-side (equity) analyst is more my style, but I guess it would be nice to see what other investment jobs have to offer as well.

Thank you!!

i have this presentation to make on the 27th about share holder and investor relations and its for my public relations class . i need information on that

…mortgage security spreads and mortgage rates?

How does one directly lead to the other… What is the relation with other banks and foreign investors.

What are the levers of mortgage securities and mortgage rates?

I own wamu common stocks before it went bankrupted (yes, i know) and it is now trading in pink sheet securities. I lost $6000.00 and is not cost effective to file an individual lawsuit. I would like to know

1) If I’m eligible to file a class action. If so, based on the past history (i.e. Delta Airline) how much can a common stockholder to recover the loss.

2) How much longer will it remain trading under pink sheet?

I have emailed WAMU investor relations but haven’t received any reply yet.

Thank you in advance.

I know of a few, like Investor’s Business Daily, the company’s investor relations page, and other sources such as yahoo finance and google. I want to know what you use, and also if there is a place, besides the company’s website, that shows the financial information over longer periods of time, such as several years, so it is possible to analyze growth. Thanks!

Folks, I have been waiting to find out what ails the company OpNext after it went IPO a couple of months ago, Unfortunately the message board is still not active and investor relations do not seem to be returning calls. I also cannot find any other active forum to discuss the stock.
