I am a 22 year old black female and have never dressed professional before this…so i have to go get a few things for this internview. Just curious on your suggestions. I am a Journalism and Media studeis major at Rutgers univ. I am interviewing at RCA Music Group, Jive Records and Madison Square Garden in the departments of promotions/publicity and media relations. I want to get into event planning for music industry .
I am working on my BS in Computer Science, but am hardly the Republican that most engineers tend to be, and don’t really like the stuffy, ultra-conservative office culture. I can’t stand business a$$holes. I will graduate in two years, and am having nightmares (figuratively speaking) about spending the rest of my life working for some overbearing, bible-thumping manager. I know Google has a reputation of being liberal, but I watched their PR video online, and it was embarassingly repulsive and disgustingly sneaky, as is the case with most PR. I get the impression that working there would be no better than working at Microsoft. Right now the best job I can think of for a freethinker like myself would be some independent thing, but I am in no position to embark on someting as unstable as that. Any ideas? Advice from professional programmers would be greatly appreciated.
I am currently a marketing manager trying to figure out the next step in my career. I have had a lot of experience in marketing communications type activities: creating collateral, press releases, managing trade shows, and promotions. I am wondering what experience I may lack on the quantitative side: managing P&L, managing product lifecycle, product mix, etc. If I am more interested in the creative side of marketing, should I stay in MarCom? Or do Brand Managers deal with both? Is there less growth potential in MarCom – job ads make it seem like an entry level profession making only around $35K.
I am currently making 10.50 per hour with full benifits and well I’ve been looking at the averge rate and I’m way below. But I live in SC. How likely is it that I will get a raise, without having to ask for it?
I’m one month away from my BS in Work force Education and I would like to stay employed with this complete at least until I complete my Masters in Business and Marketing.
Is it wrong for me to request a raise. I’ve been here for six months and well I’ve gotten the normal 90 day increase of .25cents. I like what I’m doing I just think the pay should be more. I have a child to think of and well I’m fitting the bill for my education not my employeer. HLP!
