Basically, my company refers to my job as a “Webmaster.” This job title is outdated in my opinion. I basically was hired to do the following (with the following knowledge):

- Point contact for company web site (updates, changes, additions, new site designs, project manager/lead for all things company web);
- Marketing for e-mail campaigns, web campaigns and webcasts;
- Excellent working knowledge of WC3, CSS, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, PHP;
- Update content via CMS interface (but also manage all templates in this CMS);
- Print advertisement design (posters, postcards, magazine ads, etc. etc.);
- Interactive advertisement design (FLASH, for example);
- Product strategy from a marketing perspective.

It’s a huge mix of web design, web development, advertising, graphic design etc. and I can’t figure out what to call it :)

I am looking to join the Australian army as a public relations officer. I am just about to complete my degree majoring in advertising, but have decided that there would be nothing worse than sitting behind a desk every day. Therefore i decided to join advertising/ media relations with physical demands.

I was just wondering whether anyone knows what a Public relations officer actually does on a daily basis? Further, whether it will involve outdoor activities, or sitting behind a desk in Canberra or something?


I,m in Houston and I have been searching for almost 12 months and I know it will come eventually, I have been praying for something in the field of Marketing &Communications. Right now I,m currently doing substitute teaching for H.I.S.D and have been going thru all the typical avenues. Careerbuilder,Monster,PRSA,Etc.

F.Y.I I am not really looking for job hunting tips but if there is anyone in communications or marketing dept of their company that can help me get my foot in the door I would really appreciate it and can appreciate my unorthodox creative attempt to get noticed :) .
