yesterday i was called into my bosses office and was told my job was being redefined. i was told instead of being a director of public relations, which includes planning a marketing campaign, designing ads, scheduling special events, etc. the company i work for wants a person to a be an external community relations/marketing director who attends meetings, is a member of various service clubs and who promotes the image of the organization at all public events. In addition, this new position would basically listen for complaints in the public and bring them back to the company to be reported, so they could be corrected. i was offered the chance to apply for this new position but if i didn’t get it, i would be out of a job? the company indicated that the work i have previously done, marketing design, ad creation, web development, etc. would be jobbed out. any thoughts, ideas, plans, inspiration or wisdom. i’m 38 and a bit scared. help.
