Ok, so I’m almost 100% sure that one of the people who is posting on stock discussion boards, is none other than the guy working for investor relations for the company.
He keeps telling people to BUY BUY BUY and that it’s a great company.
Is this legal? Can investor relations do this???

I’m not totally sure but I would say it is illegal. Today two Bear Stearns hedge fund managers were indicted. They were caught discussing about how bad their funds were going to do because of the mortgage crisis. But they told investors that the earnings were going to be up so they should by it.

It’s hard to say if this guy works for the company. It could be just some person saying he thinks this company is a good company to put your money in.
It’s not illegal to give an opinion on a company, but it’s illegal to share information about the company to make a financial decision before the public is aware of the information (insider information)
