okay, Im trying to figure out what I’m supposed to major in. I heard that if I major in marketing i can have a better opportunity in getting a job other than majoring in communications.. I’m trying to work within my firm in their client relations department but have no idea on what to major in or what! I’m so lost! I know that I want to work in planning. like media planning or event planning within my firm. can someone please help me?!
I recently was laid off from my position with a public relations company & I’m having the hardest time finding a new position. I have only been out of school for about a year (michigan state university grad) & I have my B.A. in communications/public relations. Just wondering if maybe I should go back to school & try a new trade; what’s the use of having a degree if I can’t use it right?
Now that I have a Bachelors I’m thinking about going back into the Army as an Officer, and going into Public Relations. I don’t want to be stationed in some small hick town again.
So where are Public Relations Officers stationed. And what are some Officer Jobs in which I can be stationed in a big city. I’ll work at a MEPS if I have to, I just **** small towns.
I graduated a little over a year ago from Texas State University in San Marcos with a degree in public relations. Now I find myself wondering if I could have chosen a worse major. I have looked for a job for about 5 months now. Initially public relations firms were the only places I applied to. However, I have since applied to a myriad of other companies in different fields. I was in the nat’l honor society and I received my eagle scout rank in high school, but since that time the only thing I can work with might be my collegiate 3.1 GPA. How might I win employers over with my resume then? I could never get an internship when I was in college. Is there a secret in the cover letter? I have one last question. I am looking for jobs in the San Antonio/Austin area. Monster and careerbuilder are jokes, so what might be another way to discover reputable businesses that are hiring. Sorry for this lengthy post, but I just want to make myself clear. Can anyone be of assistance?
