I have a passion for sports, but I am not an athlete and hopefully one day I would be able to work for the NFL, NBA, or ESPN, what kind of careers would I be able to pursue in the sports field with a major in Communications or Public Relations?

You could work directly with sport teams doing media and public relations – all professional sport clubs have their own media people. Or you could try for a job as a commentator, by boning up on the stats, facts, personalities and backgrounds of various sports. Another possibility is working as a sports reporter for a caily newspaper.

there are many many things you can do. Public relations and mass communications is a really general major…I think you can work in PR for a sports team, in PR marketing for a sports team, you can go more into a journalistic route writing or doing PR for a magazine, etc. Or you can go into PR for sports athletes…that would require starting at the bottom of a PR firm that specializes in handling sports stars amd paying your dues and working your way up from there.
