I like both areas but I am a very shy person and I keep reading that to get a job in marketing/ public relations you need to be a very outgoing and creative person.

I’m looking at getting a degree in communications>Public Relations. What can I do with that degree. I’m wanting to work to represent a company or like as an admissions advisor at a college. Is that the degree I need?

I’m getting a B.S. in Communication Studies which is a very broad major. I’m trying to decide what career path I want to take, but I’m not sure about the difference between marketing, advertising and public relations. Could someone give me a brief break down of each?

Hello. I graduated December 2005 with a BS in Communications, concentrating in broadcast journalism. I’ve spent the time since then trying to get into law school, and while I succeed, I hated it and didn’t want the debt. So I was trying to see if I could get a job in public relations. I have ample public speaking and news writing classes from my degree, but no PR-specific internships which is the big source of entry-level jobs. How would I go about procuring one with my credentials? I don’t have a portfolio per se, but some clips from my news writing classes. Any ideas? If you desire more details, just ask. Thanks!
