I am applying for a position as an assistant at a public relations firm. One of the requirements is to send in a writing sample. Would a press release be the right way to go or should I add something besides this.

Like a writer or journalist…
do they help the company become something the public wants them to be, or do they just try to make the company look good?

I’ve been looking into the career of Public Relations and I’m very sure that its the thing I want to do with my life. Anyways the thing I want to know is:

- What things should I major in besides Public Relations? Is Journalism okay?

- Are there any schools in NYC that you would recommend for PR?

- Is there anything now, in high school, that I can start doing to prepare myself?

What jobs are available with a degree in public relations? how much money do you make in that field?

I know that Public Relations is an occupational field that revolves around stuff usually in the Public eye. I have a question do you have to have a 4-year (or more) degree in Communications, or do you absolutely need the Bachelors and Masters to do it? And also is there an aspect in nonprofit organizations/charities that has public relations?

Shouldn’t public relations practitioners keep quiet when there’s bad news that could affect the performance of their company’s stock? Should you let investment analysts discover the bad news on their own?

I need to give three different definitions of public relations.

Hello everyone I could use some help. I will be a senior in Fall 09 I am interested in attending graduate school for public relations. I want to work in the tourism field with public relations. What would be some great graduate schools to apply to that could put me on this path?

I am in college, working toward my BA in Public Relations. Technically, I’m going for my AS in Journalism/Public Relations, then transferring to a university to get my BA in Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations. I’m trying to figure out the best careers to go with when it comes to Public Relations. Any thoughts? Also, I was curious as to where the biggest job market is.
